Fujitsu has received an order for a gate-based superconducting quantum computer from AIST, making it the first Japanese vendor to receive an order for a commercial quantum computer system. The new system, scheduled to be operated by AIST in early 2025, is designed to scale to hundreds of qubits without upgrading the dilution refrigerators. Fujitsu has been conducting joint research with RIKEN to scale-up superconducting quantum computers and is expanding the search for practical quantum applications through collaboration with users in various fields.
