A team of researchers from the Acceleration Consortium at the University of Toronto has discovered 21 new organic solid-state laser materials in just a few months using self-driving labs (SDLs). This innovative approach, which combines AI and robotic synthesis, has significantly reduced the time and resources needed to find new OSL materials. The decentralized workflow, facilitated by a cloud-based platform, allowed for collaboration between multiple labs and resulted in the discovery of top-performing OSL gain candidates.
