Machine Learning Key To Proposed App That Could Help Flood-prone Communities

Georgia Tech professor Peng Chen is helping develop an app called CRIS-HAZARD that uses machine learning to identify and assist communities at risk of flooding. The app integrates geographic information and community input to predict and assess flooding in real time, connecting victims with first responders and emergency managers. Chen’s role is to develop new ML models for the app’s prediction capability, which could have broader applications in the future.
