China has created its largest quantum computing chip, called Trillium, which is nearly five times faster than its previous version. This development could be key to building the nation’s own “quantum cloud” and meeting the growing demand for machine learning computers. Alphabet’s efforts in developing custom chips for AI data centers, along with its tensor processing units, have allowed the company to take a significant share of the market dominated by Nvidia.
