Ai Boosts Er Admissions Accuracy, Mount Sinai Study Reveals

A study conducted by researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai found that generative artificial intelligence (AI) can accurately predict whether an emergency room patient needs to be admitted to the hospital. The study compared the performance of GPT-4, a large language model, to traditional machine-learning models and found that GPT-4 was able to provide reasoning for its decisions. This research has the potential to enhance clinical decision-making in high-volume settings such as the Emergency Department.
