This article discusses the recent developments in machine learning systems and their potential impact on healthcare. It highlights the use of new sensors and analytical methods for accurate and fast assessment of human movement, and the potential for these systems to supplement knowledge of movement mechanisms and aid in clinical practice. The Special Issue “Machine Learning Based Sensing System and Biomedical Motion Analysis for Digital Health” will focus on topics such as assistive robotics in healthcare and the use of machine learning for trend prediction and inference in movement analysis.
