Mars Inc., the maker of chocolate, gum, candy and pet products, recently announced plans to develop an artificial intelligence lab with Microsoft. The lab will focus on streamlining internal operations, as well as better predicting consumer taste trends to guide product development. The lab will give employees a dedicated area for design thinking and collaboration, and will be located at Mars’ U.S. headquarters in Newark. Mars has made it a priority to integrate digital technologies to help the century-old, family-owned company evolve and transform the way business is done, and has become one of the leading consumer packaged goods companies to embrace AI.
