Microsoft’s plans for the next generation of Xbox consoles have been revealed, including a focus on “cloud hybrid” technology, machine learning, and AI. The vision for the next generation is to “develop a next generation hybrid game platform capable of leveraging the combined power of the client and cloud to deliver deeper immersion and entirely new classes of game experiences.” Microsoft is considering switching to an ARM64 CPU, and is targeting DirectX raytracing and machine learning-powered graphical enhancement. AI and machine learning will be used for optimization and acceleration of game performance, operations, and development for players and creators. Additionally, an “immersive game and app platform” will allow anyone to develop their own games.
