NVIDIA has been working on accelerated computing since 2006, when they first introduced CUDA. CUDA was initially created to address how to program a processor that had reached a level of programmability beyond just playing video games and making pictures. NVIDIA has since developed their software capabilities to cement their dominance in AI hardware.
