Major tech firms are attempting to replicate the success of OpenAI’s GPT-3 large language model and ChatGPT chatbot. Companies are developing their own LLMs and ChatGPT alternatives in fear of being left behind. Google’s LaMDA and Apple’s Ajax are two of the most notable LLMs currently in development. LaMDA has fewer parameters than GPT-3.5 and is the foundation of Google’s chatbot competitor, Bard. Apple’s Ajax is still in development and is built using Google’s machine learning accelerator JAX.
