Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) is taking wildfire prevention and preparation one step further by developing and refining a machine learning fire potential index (FPI) model to predict the probability of a wildfire spreading into a large or catastrophic fire. The FPI model is being developed in collaboration with DTN, Technosylva, Atmospheric Data Solutions, Sonoma Technology Inc. and San Jose State University. With the right insights, the team will be able to make operational decisions to prevent a fire from ever occurring.
