Hiring for green jobs in Ireland has already doubled since 2016, while some 97 million jobs involving AI are expected to be created worldwide by 2025. Sharon McCooey, the head of professional networking site LinkedIn in Ireland, says there is a broad trend within the labour market at the moment whereby roles are being created and displaced “at a record pace”. LinkedIn’s data has revealed that jobs are quickly evolving, with 25% of the skills required for a specific role having changed since 2015. AI and the green economy are two “clear areas of opportunity” for graduates, with computer vision, natural language processing, machine learning and deep learning being among the fastest growing AI skills in Ireland. Hays Recruitment also notes that upskilling and reskilling of professionals is key to addressing the AI skills shortage.
