Google’s DeepMind team has developed a deep learning curriculum to teach robots how to play soccer. The robots, two Robotis OP3s, stumble and flop around the pitch like exhausted toddlers, but manage to right themselves and occasionally score goals. The 28 researchers involved in the project have published a paper detailing their work. The DeepMind project is less ambitious than other efforts to prepare machines for the RoboCup, but the robots are more fun to watch.
