Apple has been quietly investing in AI technology for the past five years, building custom silicon and optimizing algorithms for their devices. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently described the company’s approach to AI as “weaving” algorithms into their products. Apple has been dropping purpose-built machine-learning algorithms into their software since at least 2017, and is now beginning to make their presence known in the AI conversation.
