Google’s TensorFlow Quantum and MIT’s TorchQuantum are open source libraries for prototyping hybrid quantum-classical ML models. These developments are based on TensorFlow and PyTorch and maintain ease of use, but now allow embedding quantum circuits/algorithms running on simulators or real hardware. Deep learning (deep neural networks) was developed in the early 2000s and a popular area of deep learning includes convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Quantum Deep Learning is a first-generation hybrid quantum-classical model for medical imaging that features conventional CNNs with small auxiliary quantum circuits running in simulators for state preparation and measurement.
