Machine learning is playing an increasingly prominent role in our lives, and is also changing many fields, including ornithology. This article looks at how machine learning is influencing ways to research birds and protect them, such as the Bird Banding Laboratory, which puts bands with unique markers on birds to track their migration routes. However, tracking birds has limitations, such as the number of birds that can be tracked, and the fact that migratory behavior varies between individuals.
