Four Billion People Estimated To Lack Safe Drinking Water Services |

A recent study led by Eawag researchers found that more than half of the global population lacks safely managed drinking water services. Using machine learning and data from household surveys and Earth observations, the researchers estimated that only one in three people in low- and middle-income countries have access to safe drinking water. The study also revealed high levels of fecal contamination in drinking water and a reliance on shared water points.
