IBM Philippines President and Technology Leader Aileen Judan-Jiao believes that small language models (SLMs) of artificial intelligence (AI) can benefit Philippine businesses by being more affordable and less resource-intensive. SLMs are smaller and trained on data for a specific domain, making them more accessible for companies to use in various tasks such as customer service, HR, and data analysis. IBM’s watsonx.ai offers open source, pre-trained foundation models that can be applied to different industries.
