Researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas have developed an AI model that can help prevent power outages in electrical grids by quickly rerouting electricity. This “self-healing grid” technology uses AI to autonomously detect and repair issues, such as storm damage, without human intervention. The system can identify alternative routes for electricity in microseconds, making it much faster than current human-controlled processes. The researchers used machine learning to map the complex relationships in a power distribution network.
