Artificial intelligence and human ingenuity are being combined at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory to solve the challenge of generating clean, reliable energy from fusing plasma. Through machine learning, researchers are able to analyze data, infer relationships, and adapt to improve their control over fusion reactions. This has already led to significant results, such as avoiding magnetic disruptions that can damage fusion devices.
