SoftBank, a Japanese conglomerate, is considering investments in Indian data centre and industrial robotics companies in order to boost its focus on the infrastructure layer of artificial intelligence. They have committed $5 billion in investments for high-growth industries such as logistics, robotics, and autonomous driving. Recent investments include Green Box and Wayve. SoftBank is also expected to resume investments in Indian startups and will continue its strategy of investing over $100 million per round. Their investment portfolio in India has increased by 9% as of December 2023, and they have turned profitable for the first time in five quarters.
