The U.S. National Science Foundation has selected Gregory D. Hager, an A.I. expert and professor at Johns Hopkins University, to lead the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering. Hager’s research focuses on various areas of A.I. and machine learning, including activity recognition, robotics, and medical applications. He is also known for his work on the “language of surgery” and has been involved in the founding of four startups. Hager’s leadership at NSF will contribute to the advancement of important areas such as AI, networking, cybersecurity, and data science.
