In 2021, the tech sector contributed 9.3% of GDP to the US, making it the highest contributor. In 2020, the US tech industry employed 12.2 million people, which increased to 12.4 million in 2021. Globally, 55.3 million people were employed in the tech sector in 2021, which is an increase of 3.9% from 2019. Additionally, the tech industry has seen an employment rate increase of 209% in the last five years, and experts predict that there will be 245,500 new technology jobs in 2021.
