This article discusses the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the legal system, with examples of judges in Colombia, Pakistan, India, and Bolivia seeking advice from ChatGPT. It also looks at the potential for AI to be used to decide some “less intensely personal disputes” in England and Wales. However, the article highlights four reasons why this might not be a good idea, including the fact that AI generally acts as an expert system or machine learning system, which have both had limited success in the past.
