This article discusses the current capabilities of AI technology, such as GPT, Stanford Parser, Emily Short’s work on narrative design, Chatbot like Suzzette and Rozette, AARON by Harold Cohen, EMILY HOWELL by David Cope, and more. It also provides two main considerations for using AI technology: being able to do and verify it locally without relying on big tech gatekeeping, and understanding the internal workings of the technology. Lastly, it explains how AI technology works, such as predicting the next embedding instead of the next word, and using multi-headed attention to maintain a “velocity of semantic”.
