The Eclipse Foundation, one of the world’s largest open source software foundations, announced that the Eclipse Sparkplug specification has been awarded the 2023 IoT Business Impact Award from IoT Evolution magazine. The award recognizes organizations for their successful IoT deployment case studies, and Sparkplug was recognized for their partnership with NGL Energy Partners. The Sparkplug standard provides an open and freely available specification for how Edge of Network (EoN) gateways or native MQTT-enabled end devices and MQTT Applications communicate bi-directionally within an MQTT Infrastructure. Rich Tehrani, CEO of TMC, congratulated the Eclipse Foundation for their innovative solution.
