Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around since ancient times, but modern AI has its roots in the mid-20th century with pioneers such as Alan Turing. Turing posed the question of whether machines can use information and reason to solve problems and make decisions in the same way that humans do. In the 1950s, the first AI program, Logic Theorist, was developed by Allen Newell, Cliff Shaw, and Herbert Simon. In the 1960s and 1970s, computer technology advanced, allowing for the development of new AI programs such as expert systems, fuzzy logic, and computer vision. In the present day, AI programs are being used in autonomous vehicles, machine learning tools, chatbots, virtual assistants, and more, leading to a growing internet of things (IoT).
