Generative AI (Gen AI) is close to the peak of inflated expectations according to Gartner, and is expected to have a major impact on every major industry and work function. A 2023 McKinsey report states that current Gen AI and other technologies have the potential to automate work activities that absorb 60 to 70 percent of employees’ time today. IDC research also highlighted how two-thirds of organisations in Asia Pacific are exploring or investing in Gen AI this year. In 2024, organisations will focus on operationalising and improving Gen AI, and adjust their approaches to managing growing volumes of data across environments. This will involve strong MLOPS and data integration to help operationalise Gen AI, as well as the use of open source LLMs like Meta’s Llama-v2.
