A recent study published in BioMedInformatics has found that a Raspberry Pi device with a digital camera and a deep learning algorithm can detect facial palsy (FP) with high accuracy. The proposed solution facilitates diagnosis for both doctors and patients and could form part of a medical assessment, achieving an accuracy of 98 percent using a dataset of 20,600 images. The system is suggested as an auxiliary medical diagnostic tool for doctors, nursing staff, and patients, reducing embarrassment, effort, time, and cost.
