KaleidEO Space Systems, a startup based in Bengaluru, has become the first Indian firm to demonstrate edge computing in Space. The firm has generated insights from an image taken by an orbiting satellite in real time, using deep learning-based algorithms. As part of the demonstration, an engineering pipeline was demonstrated that can handle various stages of the image processing and movement of data seamlessly, achieving an efficiency of almost 80 times faster and reducing the downlink cost by 99%.
