OpenAI’s flagship algorithm GPT-4 has recently been completed and its successor GPT-5 has not yet begun training. Google DeepMind’s next big model, Gemini, is currently in development and is expected to be a mashup of AI’s greatest hits, such as DeepMind’s AlphaGo. Recent gains in AI have been thanks to ever-bigger algorithms consuming more and more data, however, the age of big AI models is over as training costs and computing power have skyrocketed. Google DeepMind’s Gemini is expected to be better at planning and problem-solving.
