Julie Moeyersoms, programme manager for artificial intelligence (AI) at the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (Imec) in Belgium, believes 2023 will be remembered as the year of AI. AI applications are becoming more widespread, and the computational workloads they require are increasing exponentially. This is leading to a large carbon footprint and surpassing Moore’s Law. Imec researchers are working to address the challenge of power efficiency for AI applications running on embedded devices.
