Jeffrey Hinton, a 2018 Turing Award-winning researcher, spoke at EmTech Digital 2023 about the potential existential threat of powerful AI systems. He and his colleagues developed a kind of artificial intelligence based on multilayer neural networks, which has been transforming the global economy. Hinton believes that it is naive to think that development of AI can be stopped, but he believes that Google has acted responsibly.
