Chevron’s head of data science and analytics, Lo, spoke with Beena Ammanath, executive director of the Deloitte AI Institute, about Chevron’s approach to data and AI. Lo discussed the key projects they are working on, which are focused on safely delivering higher returns and lower carbon. These projects include using machine learning to quickly unlock insights in the subsurface to enhance exploration, increase confidence for well placement, improve production from those wells, and further optimize operations. Additionally, they are using deep learning for computer vision and bioacoustics to protect native wildlife populations.
