NASA has developed a new technology called DAGGER which uses AI and machine learning to predict solar storms. The technology collects data from space satellites and ground-based observatories and uses deep learning to recognize patterns in the data. This allows the system to accurately predict geomagnetic disturbances 30 minutes before they occur. The team has successfully predicted two solar storms in the past and is now able to make rapid predictions.
