Ucc Team Develops New Methods To Predict Transport Demand

This research, published in the Scientific Reports journal, uses a novel deep learning neural network architecture called TrebuNet to accurately project demand for air, road, and rail transport in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. The study has implications for energy markets and climate policy, as transport accounts for one fifth of total greenhouse gas emissions. The research was funded by Science Foundation Ireland and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
