Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai recently announced the merging of the company’s two advanced A.I. research labs, Google Brain and DeepMind, to form a new unit called Google DeepMind. This move is a logical one for Google, as they are in a competition with Microsoft to infuse cutting-edge generative A.I. into their product offerings the fastest. Google Brain was already up-and-running when the company acquired DeepMind in 2014, and was driven by Google co-founder Larry Page. This merging of the two A.I. teams could have a large impact on Big Tech’s future, and the public’s, as deep learning is based on neural networks.
