Generative AI, the technology behind popular chatbot ChatGPT, is set to revolutionize the automotive industry, from design to self-driving testing to infotainment to factory processes. Nvidia is developing ways to integrate generative AI into their products, such as the Omniverse industrial metaverse platform and Drive autonomous vehicle development platform. Generative AI is a set of algorithms that can create new, realistic content based on training data, and tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, DALL-E and Stable Diffusion can create images from natural language inputs. Generative AI can simplify and speed up the design process for parts and even the entire vehicle, and can be taught the laws of physics or thermodynamics to modify existing designs.
