In this episode, Pieter Abbeel introduces John Schulman, a Berkeley graduate who co-founded Open AI and is the chief architect of ChatGPT. John is also the inventor of modern deep learning based policy grant algorithms, including translation policy optimization and proximal policy optimization. John was recruited by Professor Jose Carmena to work on prosthetics and robotics, and eventually ended up in Pieter’s lab.
