Esther Kimani has won the Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation for her early crop pest and disease detection device. The solar-powered tool uses AI and machine learning to swiftly detect and identify crop pests and diseases, reducing crop losses and increasing yields for smallholder farmers. Kimani aims to scale the device to one million farmers in the next five years.
