A collaboration between Georgia Tech’s OMSCS program and the School of Biological Sciences’ McGrath Lab is allowing students to participate in interdisciplinary research projects. One student, Jasmine Tata, is remotely monitoring fish behavior using machine learning and computer vision. Her work is crucial to a project studying the connection between behavior and brain function in Lake Malawi cichlids. Tata’s contributions include improving data collection and analysis, as well as adapting the process for different cichlid species.
