Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in oncology, with applications ranging from cancer diagnostics to radiology and pathology. AI-associated devices have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in oncology, and are most commonly used in radiology and pathology, with breast cancer being the most common cancer. AI is being used to assist with tasks such as determining breast density, triaging mammograms, identifying those at risk for atherosclerotic disease, and identifying breast cancers. AI is also being used for the screening and diagnosis of colorectal cancer, and is being used in some pathology labs to read digital pathology slides and refine cancer diagnoses.
