Alex Tholl, co-founder and CEO of DIVE, an advanced manufacturing company, has been utilizing 3D printing technology to create custom-made prostheses for pets. The process begins with a 3D scan of the animal patient, which is then imported and refined digitally. The 3D file is then sent to a print lab where it is printed out of a special TPU blend. The prostheses are more durable, lighter, and have a higher success rate than traditional hand fabrication processes. Dogs are the primary focus, but the company has also outfitted tortoises, cats, and other animals.
