The World Health Assembly recently adopted a resolution on drowning prevention, noting that over 2.5 million people have drowned in the last decade. Sam Weitzman, a former finance worker, was inspired to create a solution to this tragedy after a close call with his own children at a pool. His company, Deep Innovations, developed PoolScout, an AI-based alarm and monitoring system that detects kids and pets in the danger zone. PoolScout uses vision-based analytics and cloud-native AI to sound an alert when it identifies specific unsafe scenarios such as an unattended toddler in the pool area.
