AutoPickr, an advanced robotics company, has raised £710,000 in an early funding round for development of its farm-based robot, Gus, the automated asparagus picker. The technology combines robotic arms with advanced computer vision AI, a navigation system, and a robust vehicle. AutoPickr is a spinout from ST Robotics, founded in 1984, and the computer vision system was trained by taking thousands of pictures of asparagus spears.
