A team of experts in computer science and oncology in the southwestern French town of Toulouse are developing software to improve the management of patients and accelerate research. This unit results from collaborative efforts between the Irit computer science institute and the Toulouse Cancer Research Centre. The researchers are trying to answer questions such as how can the detection of certain tumours be improved, can their evolution or response to treatment be predicted, and what is the mechanism that causes the proliferation of cancer cells. The team of Irit scientists specialize in the design of bio-inspired algorithms, machine learning software, and signal processing and analysis.
