Brokoslaw Laschowski and his team at the University of Toronto are developing wearable robots that use artificial intelligence (AI) to make decisions on their own. Their work includes bionic prosthetic legs, exoskeletons, AI-powered smart glasses and neural interfaces, all with the goal of helping individuals with physical disabilities. Laschowski’s research uses computer vision to allow the devices to sense their environment in real-time and deep-learning AI to recognize the surrounding environment and adapt to obstacles and changes in terrain.
