Computer Vision (CV) technology, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) function, is at an inflection point as technological advancements enable it to extend from the cloud to the edge. Three major trends are converging to make this possible, including tiny processors, powerful neural processing units, and efficient convolutional neural networks (CNNs). This will enable new use cases across many aspects of our lives, from semiconductor manufacturing and inspection to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and image beautification and manipulation on mobile devices. Context-aware devices are also being enabled by CV technology at the edge, allowing them to sense their users and the environment in order to make better decisions towards automated interactions.
