Researchers at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) have developed a unique strategy to improve the performance of deep learning algorithms in Visual Place Recognition (VPR) applications. The continuous place-descriptor regression (CoPR) technique has demonstrated encouraging results in terms of improving the performance of VPR applications. The technique is designed to overcome the limitations of current VPR techniques, such as perceptual aliasing and the scarcity of reference photos, and to boost localization accuracy.
