This paper presents a study selection process and results for the research questions related to the use of sensors to measure neurophysiological responses to pain. The search strategy retrieved 553 studies from three databases and 8 papers were manually included. After removing duplicates, 435 studies remained for further review. After screening the titles and abstracts against the inclusion criteria, 382 articles were discarded and the remaining 53 articles were read in their entirety. The final selection included 48 papers. An overview of the selected papers is presented in Table 1, which includes information about the type of pain, the type of noxious stimulation used, its anatomical location, the population included, and the sensor name to measure the neurophysiological response. The two categories of sensors used are those that measure neural/brain activity and those that measure other physiological activity.
